A legacy born in the heart of Kutch, SM Bajaj Salt is one of India’s most respected names in Salt Manufacturing, Trading, and Export. Founded in 1955 by the visionary Mr. Sanwarmal Bajaj, our journey began as Bajaj Trading Co. in Kolkata. Today, we stand tall as an ISO-certified, family-owned group serving industries, households, and global markets with pure, high-quality salt.
Our Legacy
From humble beginnings to becoming one of India’s most trusted salt manufacturers, our growth reflects our relentless pursuit of innovation and quality. Under the guidance of Mr. Bajaj, and now led by the second generation of leadership, we expanded into Tripura and Assam, setting up full-fledged production units and pioneering the production and processing of raw salt. Today, we proudly produce and trade 700,000+ tons of raw salt annually, including industrial salt, edible salt, and specialty salts such as pink salt and low-sodium salt.
Our Presence
With free-flow plants in Gujarat and Tripura, and Salt Farms in Chirai, Karol, and Shikarpur, we manage multiple lakh metric tons of annual salt output.
With proximity to major ports like Kandla (Deendayal Port) and Mundra, our supply chain serves as a bulk supplier to domestic industries and international clients, earning trust as a truly global salt supplier.

Our Inception
Commenced salt trading under Bajaj Trading Co. in Kolkata
1955
Guwahati Salt Trading (Bajaj Trading Co.)
Expanded into the provinces of Guwahati & Assam under Bajaj Trading Co.
1968
Gandhidham Office
Moved into the Salt City of Gandhidham; launched Sahajanand Salt Works
1984
Tripura Trading Office
Catering to the growing demand in the North-East.
A new trading office was established in Agartala, the capital city of Tripura, introducing processed salt to North-East markets for the first time.
1988
Industry setups in new states
Salt iodization & crushing plants set up in Chirai, Gujarat, and Agartala, Tripura
1992 - 94
Entry into new markets with a New Branding
Savitri Bajaj Cook Products Pvt. Ltd. established as an expansion into new processed food markets with networks set up across 8-10 states nationwide.
1997 - 98
New Salt Farms in Karol
Establishment of a new SaltWorks in Karol
Aim to maximize salt yield through contemporary methods

Milestone Achieved ( First of Many)
The annual production and processing of industrial salt hits 100,000 metric tons.
