A leading name in salt manufacturing, trading, and export. Nestled in the expansive salt plains of Kutch, Gujarat, our journey began in 1955 under the visionary leadership of Mr. Sanwarmal Bajaj. Initially established as the Bajaj Trading Company in Kolkata, our legacy of excellence and innovation in the salt industry has only grown stronger with time.
Our Legacy
Mr. Bajaj’s entrepreneurial spirit led to the gradual expansion of our company, with the establishment of production plants in Tripura and Assam. The inception of Savitri Bajaj Salt in Chirai, near Gandhidham, marked a significant milestone. Under the stewardship of the second generation, we ventured into raw salt production and processing, emerging as pioneers in the industry. Today, we proudly produce and trade approximately 7 hundred thousand tonnes of raw salt annually.

Commencement of trading salt under Bajaj Trading Co., sourcing from Gujarat cities incl gandhidham

Guwahati salt Trading (Bajaj Trading CO.) ((As the Business expands, Mr. Bajaj grows the business operations in Bengal and the adjoining state of Assam by setting up offices in Guwahati under ‘Bajaj Trading Company’.))
1968
Gandhidham office. (The second generation in 1984, under the guidance of visionary SM Bajaj himself, grow operations nationwide by setting up business in different parts of Gujarat including setting up their first self-owned Salt Farms by the name of Sahajanand Salt Works near the industrial port city of Gandhidham.)
1984
Tripura & Agartala trading office (Growing markets call for attention in the monsoon state of Tripura as a new trading office is set up in the capital city of Agartala, Tripura. Markets of the North-East experience the taste of refined and processed salt in their meals for the first time.)
1988
Setting up of salt iodization and crushing plants in Gujarat and Tripura

Shikarpur salt works productions incorporated (SALT FARMS IN SHIKARPUR) ((Salt Works acquired in the industrial town of Shikarpur, Gujarat and re-designed to effectively maximize yield of grace quality sea-salt))

Mechanized washery plant set-up, one of the first in the area

Half-dry refinery set up in santalpur 15K MTN Monthly ((Half-Dry Salt Refinery Plant set-up in Santalpur along with Mechanized Salt Washing to supply top quality products to clients nationwide.))
